Max and DC have officially unveiled the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated second season of Peacemaker, and it’s as outrageous and irreverent as fans could hope for. The series, which became a breakout hit with its mix of absurd humor, sharp satire, and surprising heart, returns this summer with more explosive action and an all-new mission for its offbeat hero, Christopher Smith — aka Peacemaker.
John Cena reprises his role as the helmeted vigilante who’s still dead set on achieving peace “no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.” Alongside Cena, returning cast members include Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick, with exciting new additions such as Frank Grillo, David Denman, Sol Rodriguez, and Tim Meadows. Season 2 will follow Chris as he battles new threats while grappling with his troubled past and evolving sense of purpose.
Created and written by James Gunn, who also returns to direct several episodes, Season 2 brings fresh creative energy with the addition of directors Greg Mottola (Superbad), Peter Sollett (Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist), and Althea Jones (Queen America). With Gunn now at the helm of DC Studios, anticipation is high for how Peacemaker will continue to evolve in the broader DC Universe.
Based on the classic DC character originally created by Joe Gill and Pat Boyette, Peacemaker Season 2 is slated to premiere on August 21, 2025.
